The White family and other animals

We're safely back from our 24 hours in Chester and all went pretty much as one might predict, although not entirely.

First the 100% predictable bit - it chucked it down throughout yesterday's visit to Chester Zoo. But, you know, you have to persevere - it's the British way, after all - and Jamie did get to see most of what we had planned for him.

He got to point at an Asian elephant, for example, as you can see above.

Then the monkeys...

...no, not there, there.

Followed by the lions.

However, he decided against pointing at the biggest snake I certainly have ever seen (that's its head just above Jamie's)...

...because he was just too freaked out.

Just before we left, we had the first unexpected event of the day - we bumped into Wee John who was making his way home after an entertaining but very long night.

The second surprise (for me at least) came in the hotel bar when, after failing to get a candle into his mother's drink...

...Jamie managed to get it into mine.

I was obviously delighted.

This morning was a much better day weather wise, so we opted to spend a few hours in Chester itself. But Jamie wasn't that bothered.

I hope you've had a good Easter break thus far. And don't forget, it's far from over yet.
